Pistons tie '90, '04 title teams, win 13th in row
28+ min ago (367+ words) INDIANAPOLIS -- Just two years ago, the Detroit Pistons set an NBA record for the consecutive losses in a single NBA season with 28. Now, they seemingly can't lose. The Pistons tied a team record Monday night with their 13th straight victory, beating the Indiana Pacers 122-117. They matched winning streaks by their 1990 and 2004 NBA championship teams and improved to 15-2. "It's amazing," Pistons star Cade Cunningham said. "We play for the Detroit Pistons, man. A historic franchise. So to be able to make history for a historic franchise like this -- it's special." It's a stunning turnaround for a franchise that started the 2023-24 season with a 3-36 record and finished with 14 wins. The Pistons have a chance to surpass all the great Detroit teams, including the "Bad Boys" from back in the day. And it's only fitting that these Pistons, like those old Isiah Thomas-led teams,…...

Sampson critical of UH after close call vs. Orange
1+ hour, 15+ min ago (531+ words) LAS VEGAS -- With a matchup against Tennessee looming on Tuesday in the Players Era Festival, Kelvin Sampson said Monday night's close call against Syracuse and the double-digit lead they squandered in the final minutes on Monday wasn't the byproduct of an unfocused team. "We're not good enough to look ahead," Sampson said after his team's 78-74 overtime win against Syracuse. "You saw the way we played [Monday]. I see it every day. Some days we're better than others. This is not last year's team. I'm not saying they can't be eventually, but they're certainly not now. Look at the mistakes we make." Tuesday's meeting against the Vols will be a rematch of last year's Elite Eight game between the two teams. In that matchup, Houston won 69-50 to advance to the Final Four. A win on Tuesday could propel the Cougars to…...

2+ hour ago (651+ words) Dimitar Berbatov reacts to Idrissa Gueye's bizarre red card after slapping his own teammate Michael Keane. (1:06) David Moyes refused to condemn Idrissa Gueye after the Everton midfielder was sent off for clashing with his own teammate in the team's 1-0 win over Manchester United on Monday as he likes his "players fighting each other, if someone didn't do the right action." Gueye saw red 13 minutes in to the game, squaring up to teammate Michael Keane and slapping the defender as they argued over a misplaced pass which gave Bruno Fernandes a shooting chance he could not convert. That left Everton under the cosh but Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's fine 29th-minute goal gave them the lead, they then fought doggedly to defend against an increasingly frustrated United side who saw a five-game unbeaten run come to an end.
