Panama City celebrates completion of $15 million downtown streetscapes project

(WJHG/WECP) - Panama City officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday to celebrate the completion of the downtown Streetscapes project that transformed the city's core area over nearly three years. The Panama City Streetscapes Project began in February 2022 near the Panama City Marina. The second and final phase was opened on Saturday. The entire project cost around $15 million, according to Panama City's city manager. Funding was provided by the infrastructure surtax fund for the city of Panama City, as well as a grant from the Florida Department of Commerce. The project included replacing all of the infrastructure under the roads, according to Panama City officials.
