Heart of Biddeford event to showcase relationship between residents and Saco River

Obituary: Jane Elizabeth Heath

She was born in Bangor, Maine on Nov. 3, 1958, the daughter of the late John and Jean (Harriss) Heath. After graduating from Hampden Academy, Jane went on to study at Katherine Gibbs College in Boston and the University of Maine. She worked as the Director of Human Resources for DeLorme Mapping during its formative years and then later at Frank's Bakery in Bangor. Jane wore many hats. She was a notary and officiated many weddings. She made the best carrot cake and baked many for the weddings of family and friends. At one point, she ran her own catering business. Nick was born on Nov. 23, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pa. at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, the first generation of Polish and Ukrainian immigrants. He grew up in Drexel Hill with his brother Bob and sister Karen and spent summers at Barnegat Bay, NJ. Throughout his life, he identified as a father first, Vietnam Corpsman second, and Catholic third. Nick and his family are grateful to the people of the Maine Veterans" Home in Scarborough who cared for him during his final two years. Nick passed peacefully with his family on the evening of Nov. 21.
